To Know Your Treatment Options / What is Dialysis?

Dialysis is a way of cleaning your blood when your kidneys can no longer do the job. It gets rid of your body’s wastes, extra salt and water, and helps to control your blood pressure.

It is a treatment option for individuals on the kidney transplant waiting list, for those who do not want to receive a kidney transplant and for those, who cannot have a kidney transplant. It is important to be mindful that dialysis can only replace 5-10% of the function of the kidneys.
